Ski Lessons

We have the following lessons for a variety of ages and abilities:

  • Jackrabbit Ski League – A national ski program that offers lessons to our youngest skiers, starting at Bunnyrabbits (4-5 year old) and Jackrabbits (6+ years old).  Lessons offered on Saturdays (13:30- 15:00) at the Club.  Coordinators: Cara Benoit
  • Track Attack Program – For youth ages 10-13 who have completed Jackrabbits or reached a comparable skill level in skiing.  The program focuses on skill development, fitness, training and (for those interested) introduction to competitive skiing.  Lessons offered on Thursdays (16:30-18:00) and Saturdays (10:30-12:00)  Coach: Stephen Dunbar and Seth Lippert
  • Go Girls Go - A new program in 2009-10! - For girls ages 13-17 who want to improve  their fitness, skiing ability and socialize with other teenaged girls.  This is a recreational ski program with fun lessons; we di no ski fast.  Group meets Saturdays at 11:00.  In addition, some night skis (with pizza) are planned organised.  This program is all about having FUN, so no skiing ability is required.  Fees are waved for this first year of the program.  Participants need to be a member of the ski club.  Coach: Cayley Thomas. 
  • Senior High Performance Ski Program – For youth ages 13 + who have completed the Jackrabbit and/or Junior High Performance or reached a comparable skill level in skiing.  The program focuses on improving skiiing technique, increasing efficiency (speed), fitness and racing.  Lessons offered four times a week (Tuesday and Thursday (17:00-19:00), Saturday and Sunday (10:00-12:00).  Coaches: Corey McLachlan, Sheena Tremblay, Geoff Ray
  • Adult Beginner Classic Lessons  – For adults who want to learn to ski in the tracks (classic technique).  Lessons include diagonal stride and uphill/downhill techniques.  Lessons are offered to Club members and non-members on a requested basis. Send the Club an email  to join.  Instructors:  Susan Fleck, CANSI Level 1; Karen Johnson, CANSI Level 2
    • Scheduled Lessons - check the ski club calendar or send the Club an email.
    • Weekday lessons are available on demand. E-mail the club or Karen Johnson and she will arrange for weekday lessons during school hours.  Karen  will do a group lesson if there is enough interest.      Wednesday mornings Karen has an informal ski group that you are welcome to join, where some ski tips are mixed in with a guided ski.  
    • Group lesson Fees for 4 classes (6 hours of instruction) are $40 (amazing bargain!).  Lesson fees go to the ski club coffers.  Non-members need to pay the day use ($10 per ski) fee as well. Private lesson fees are $30/hour.  Non-members need to pay the day use ($10 per ski) fee as well. 
  • Adult Beginner Skate Ski Lessons  – For adults who want to learn skate skiing (also called free technique).  Skate skiing is done on the flat trail, not in tracks and requires temperatures above -20c to aid in gliding (essential for fun skate skiing).  Lessons are offered to Club members and non-members when temperatures are right and there is sufficient interest.  Contact the instructor or send the Club an email   to join in a lesson Instructors: Susan Fleck, CANSI Level 1; Karen Johnson CANSI Level 2
