Volunteers Make This Club!

This Club is run on volunteer power.  Members volunteer to lead Jackrabbits groups, train high performance skiiers and biathletes, organize special events (including loppets, races, potluck dinners, etc), clear and groom trails, and maintain the facilities, machinery and equipment.

Some jobs are formal while others are more informal.  Big or small, long- or short-term, find out how you can help.  Learn new skills like officiating races, grooming trails or coaching kids.  Bring your talents and energy to the Ski Club where you will have a great time getting to know fellow members.

Talk to a Board Director, one of the program or facility coordinators or a coach.  Contact us with your interest.  Be a part of a great club!

The Club also takes time to recognize a few people who have demonstrated exceptional service, whether that be in highly visible jobs or behind the scenes. Here are some of the awards we like to give out:

  • The Wooden Ski Award for long-service member(s) of the club with a tradition of involvement and dedication to the YKSC.
  • The Double-Poler Award for adult volunteer(s) who made a significant contribution to the YKSC in the past year.
  • The Stellar Snowflake Award for junior volunteer(s) who made a significant contribution to the YKSC in the past year.
  • The Herringbone Award for a business that contributed in-kind services to the YKSC in the past year.
